Biography

Professor ZENG Fanxu is the Director of the Center for Climate Communication and Risk Governance in the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University. His research interests include environmental and climate change communication, risk communication, strategic communication, and political communication. He is the author of several books, including Environmental Risk Communication in China: Actors, Issues and Governance(Routledge, 2022), Negotiating Public Agenda in China: When NGOs Meet the Media (2012), Media as Mediators: Citizen Activism and Public Deliberation (2015) , and he has also published a number of papers in both Chinese and English.

He directs the Center for Climate Communication and Risk Governance that is committed to conducting social science research and providing communication tools and knowledge products in the fields of climate change, green and low-carbon transition, environmental protection, sustainable development.

He is also Researcher at the Institute of National Governance and Global Governance of Tsinghua University, Researcher at the Center for Information and Communication Studies of Fudan University, and Editorial Board Member of Chinese Journal of Communication. He used to be the Vice President of the Applied Journalism and Communication Research Committee of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism, and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard-Yenching Institute (2010-2011).
